Goal
Design a web responsive platform that provides a best-in-class healthcare experience for children and young adults seeking behavioral health therapy.
Challenge
The primary challenge of this project, a responsive web platform, was to design a structure adaptable for two distinct user demographics: parents and young adults, while ensuring optimal usability on both mobile and desktop devices.
Problems
Rising Mental Health Disorders:
1 in 5 children in the US have a diagnosable mental health disorder, often going untreated.
Inaccessible and Costly Care:
Low availability of in-network providers and long waitlists make timely treatment difficult.
Lack of Parental Support:
Parents struggle to find reliable resources and support for their children's mental health needs.
Informational Architecture
Interviews with stakeholders helped me to create a great foundation for establishing IA.
Features I Owned As a Sole Designer
• Sign Up Flow & First Scheduling
• Home Dashboard
• Account
• Messaging Center
• Appointments
Design Thinking
• What is a must-have during the Sign Up process?
• What is s must have before scheduling the first intake call?
• What can we cut? Can we ask some information later in the journey?
• Conduct multiple interviews with 3 providers and 2 intake coordinators to get their expertise.
New Onboarding Experience
• Reduced the questionnaire to the basic, most needed minimum
• Added an option to pay later
• Added gender types
• Added a visual indicator of steps
Dashboards
Goal: Design a dashboard that allows users to easily navigate between action items, appointments, and providers. The dashboard for Persona #2 (Parent) includes additional functionality built on top of the experience for Persona #1 (Child).
Account
Same applies to the Account experience.
Design System
When a Visual Design was established, I put together a design system which included various patterns and notifications / error states.
Interactions
Detailed documentation of interactions always helps to avoid back and forth with engineers.
